چکیده
Background Data: Several articles reported on PVCR for correction of thoracolumbar deformities that followed tuberculous spondylodiscitis. But fewer focused fixed lumbosacral deformity secondary to L5 pathology. Study Design: A retrospective cohort study. Purpose: This article aims determine the degree spinopelvic parameters after posterior vertebral column resection (PVCR) fifth lumbar vertebra (L5) in pyogenic spondylodiscitis and define its relation patients` clinical functional outcomes. Patients Methods: study included 12 patients with kyphotic lumbopelvic spinal healed at junction. The seven males (58.3%) five females (41.7%) a mean age 37.5 ± 7.61 years. were treated (PVCR). Plain radiography, computed tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) performed all patients, following measured using Surgimap (version: 2.2.13) computer program: lordosis (LL), pelvic incidence (PI), tilt (PT), sacral slope (SS), focal angle. Bony fusion is assessed postoperative X-rays and/or CT. Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) both leg back pain Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) preoperatively last follow-up. Spinopelvic Reconstruction Following Lumbosacral tumor Resection
T involving sacral nerve roots and/or bony structures at the lumbosacral junction are challenging to treat surgically due to potential neurological deficits and biomechanical instability following resection (16, 26). However, with the advent of new modern spinal instrumentation, more biomechanically stable lumbosacropelvic constructs can be used. Additionally, with the recent advances in adjuva...
متن کاملVertebral Column Resection for Rigid Spinal Deformity
OBJECTIVE Vertebral column resection (VCR) is a surgical technique that may be applied for correction of moderate to severe spinal deformities, including those with large rigid curves, fixed trunk translation, or asymmetry between the length of the convex and concave column of the deformity. This article reviews the VCR technique as it relates to correction of rigid spinal deformity, including ...
متن کاملA single posterior approach for vertebral column resection in adults with severe rigid kyphosis
Abstract Background: Correction of severe kyphosis is a challenging operation in spinal surgery. A two stage operation has been commonly used: anterior release and decompression followed by posterior correction and fusion. We describe the posterior vertebral osteotomy technique for correction of severe and rigid kyphosis through posterior-only approach. Methods: Twelve patients (six male and s...
متن کاملComplications of Posterior Vertebral Resection for Spinal Deformity
STUDY DESIGN Retrospective study. PURPOSE To evaluate the incidence and risk factors of complications following posterior vertebral resection (PVR) for spinal deformity. METHODS A review of 233 patients treated with PVR at one institution over a nine-year period (1997 to 2005) was performed. The average age was 33.5 years. Complications were assessed in terms of surgical techniques (posteri...
متن کاملModified posterior vertebral column resection for Kümmell disease
RATIONALE Kümmell's disease is defined as delayed traumatic vertebral collapse disease in which patients develop a kyphosis after asymptomatic minor spinal trauma. Both anterior approach and posterior approach have been reported, however, there is no standard treatment for Kümmell's disease. PATIENT CONCERNS We described a successful modified posterior vertebral column resection in a patient ...
